The land
Salta
Andino's Salta producer, Munay, works the El Retiro and Río Seco vineyards in the Valle de Cafayate, in the Calchaquí Valleys, one of the highest wine regions in the world. The thin, high-altitude atmosphere lets through more ultraviolet light, so the vine grows thicker, darker skins; the wines carry deep colour, high polyphenol concentration and structured but ripe and rounded tannins. A wide day-to-night temperature swing brings full ripeness without losing freshness, and the arid, windy, sun-drenched climate keeps the fruit exceptionally healthy.
