The land

Place & terroir

Barrancas is a terroir of two dominant soil profiles that add complexity: to the north, a silty surface with a rocky structure of alluvial origin from the Mendoza River; to the south, deep sandy zones.

Winemaking & production

Winemaker
Rolando Lazzarotti

Hand-harvested in the early morning hours, in 20 kg plastic crates; fruit received on a cluster-selection belt.

Cold pre-fermentation maceration; fermentation with selected yeasts; malolactic fermentation with indigenous bacteria; partial ageing in French oak (from 10% of the wine up to 18 months in the Gran Reserva); wines are left unfiltered and only cold-stabilized, with no sulphur additions until the end of malolactic fermentation.
